Recasting Concrete is an experimental project during my short-course at Central Saint Martins, I was intend to explore the possibilities of casting concrete using different methods. This includes creating prototype tiles from materials and aggregates made from plastic waste, fabric, rope and natural materials such as leftover coffee grounds, creating different surfaces and forms using different casting techniques, such as creating positive and negative spaces for tiles using clay to divide spaces, casting with wooden frames and casting with molds created using a compress machine.

The prototype tiles from the experiment were assembled into patterns that took into account the feasibility of using them in practice. The study area was a footpath in a neighborhood which was dilapidated and lack of green space in the community. The experiment questioned the feasibility of creating a footpath that could both facilitate pedestrians and create green space for the community. The design of the tiles with a central gap and tiles made from natural materials could be planted with trees as an experiment in alternative uses of concrete for walkways.

In addition to experimenting with materials, I am also interested in casting concrete sculptures using a plaster mold method, starting with molding the shape with clay, coating it with silicone to create a plaster mold, and then casting the concrete when the plaster is dry. Although this technique takes a long time, But it is a training in planning and problem solving at every step, especially floating shapes with details.
